While 2007 marked the 70th Anniversary of The DANDY, 2008 will mark the 70th Anniversary of its not so younger brother The BEANO.

The comical brain child of Dundee publishers D.C. Thomson,The BEANO has seen many characters come and go, but none have made more of an impression than its three cover stars.

Big Eggo was the big star in the first issue of 1938, and remained top of the pecking order until 1948 when he was knocked off his perch by Biffo the Bear. Biffo was biffed off the cover by the young up-start Dennis the Menace in 1974 and the anarchic adolescent has remained there ever since.
